About Me
Hi, I’m Matthew Tegen. I am a computer analyst and I am going as a missionary to Haiti for one year through Global Partners. I really feel that it is God’s call on my life to leverage my skills and talents to help those who do not have the material and spiritual blessings that we all enjoy. While it is true that there is a lot of need locally, right now I feel the skill set that I have to offer can go the farthest by investing in the unique opportunity that has been given to me in Haiti. I’m really excited about what my future holds and what plans God has for me.
The Mission
What is the great opportunity in Haiti?
• Evaluate the computer, networking, and internet needs of each mission station.
• Recommend needed equipment to resource each station.
• Supervise installation and operation of new and existing equipment.
• Train supervisors in each location in operation, maintenance, and repair skills
• Teach beginning level information technology to university students.
Why does a country with so many struggling just to buy food need help setting up a technology infrastructure?
Good question. Well they don’t need computers they need food. The technology is part of a long term solution. Educating and training the Haitians in technology will enable them to be a part of a modern work force and acquire skills that can get them places they could never go before. Education will also serve the purpose of allowing Christians to go places in business and government that previously weren’t accessible. In these environments they will have the opportunity to be a witness for Christ and help right the moral compass of the country.
This is HUGE
Just as this opportunity for me is only a small part of Gods plan for Haiti. I myself will only play a small part in this particular outreach. Its way bigger than me and it will need lots of others getting involved to make it happen.
